West University Place Movers You Can Trust Since 1969

Johnnie T. Melia Moving & Storage has been Houston's trusted moving company since 1969, and West University Place has been on our route sheets nearly that whole time. West U is its own city with its own rules and its own rhythm: narrow lots, deep two-story homes, constant teardown-and-rebuild construction, and families timing moves around the school calendar. As a second-generation, family-owned company, we know how to put a truck on a tight West U street without blocking the neighbors, and how to move a household into a brand-new build without leaving a mark on it.

About Johnnie T. Melia Moving & Storage

We are not a national franchise dispatching day laborers. Every crew member is a trained, full-time employee, and every move is backed by full Texas DMV licensing (TxDMV No. 0000005457), US DOT authority (No. 436264), cargo insurance, and an ATA ProMover certification held by fewer than 10 percent of moving companies in the country. West U is a city that notices details, and so do we.

Our Experience Moving in West University Place

West U’s lots are famously narrow and its homes famously deep, which changes how a move works. Our crews plan truck placement so driveways and the street stay passable, use door-to-truck floor runs because the carry path through a deep two-story home is long, and pad stair rails and door frames as the first task of the day, not an afterthought. Decades here have also taught us the neighborhood’s calendar: West U moves cluster hard around the end of the school year, so May through August books out first, and construction on nearly every block means we confirm access the week of your move in case a neighbor’s build has changed the street. New-build move-ins get extra protection on floors and freshly painted walls, because handing a family a flawless new home and marking it up on day one is not an outcome we accept.
